This shows the Mayor and Mayoress of Derby Opening the Mickleover Boy's Club, later as one activity to 'form' Mickleover Old Boys F.C. in the Derby Senior league, now having become Mickleover Sports in the Northern Counties East Premier Division. It was on the site of the ex-Methodist Chapel in Orchard Street, Mickleover. We also organised fund raising raffles, Bring and Buy, a Whist Drive and dance, etc. coercing the local shopkeepers to donate prizes to cover the cost of materials that needed to be purchased - those which didn't miraculously appear from unknown other sources! And this all in Wartime!
