Description : Saint Andrews Church, London Road, Derby Image Reference No. : DP-OLDBRICOL-05

Approx Date of photo : 1970
This rare photo shows the former St Andrews Church during demolition. Today
the site is occupied by St Andrews house.
The church was built as a "railway church" between 1864-66, It
was designed by George Gilbert Scott. The expansion of the railways and
its employees necessitated it and the Midland Railway contributed greatly
to the building fund. There was also St Andrews school to the right of it
(as viewed from London road) which was built in 1869. In this photo we can
see it in the final stages of demolision in 1970.
