This
is a very handy site if you want to find a street in the U.K. You can
search by Street name, post code, Place name, Landranger grid, Lat/Long
or telephone code. the best thing about this site is that you can click
a point on the map and it will place a arrow on it, If you then copy the
URL (from the address bar) you can use this to send to someone so you
can indicate something on a map.
Example map with arrow - click HERE |

Another
great mapping site, If you search for a post code then it will place a
circle onto the map at that point. The best thing about this site is that
you can click on the "Aerial Photos" button and this will show
an aerial photo of your coverage area. You can then also click on the
"Overlay Map" button and it will show an aerial photo but when
you move the mouse over the map it will display the roads on top.
Example Aerial photo/overlay map - click HERE |

If you
want to find out a postcode for any area in England then use this site.
You will need to register to use it though. |

Books about Derby and Derbyshire. Books, books and more Books! This page features details of some of the many Books on Derby and Derbyshire that I have collected over the years. Some of the Books have been out of print for many years and were quite difficult to locate. Luckily these days there are many online Book stores such as Amazon, Waterstones, book depository, booksonline, country bookshop, whsmith, scarthinbooks, Breedon Books. These books are full of local history and photographs of the local area, Below are details of my collection. Please note that I do not sell books, Try Waterstones or Amazon for books that are still in print or books on ebay for out of print books. |

The background wallpaper I have created for this page and the other Derby pages is a photograph of Derby Cathedral which I have edited in Paint Shop Pro 7 using the 'Trace Contour' effect. Then reduced to 16 colours and saved as a .GIF image. This results in a very small file size of 19Kb even though the image is 1006 x 610 pixels.
This web page can be book marked as a favourite in the normal way,
If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer V5 or greater then it will be allocated
its own icon to the left of the url. Most of the photographs have been reduced in size from their original 1.2Mb file size down to about 80Kb, This is achieved by setting the Jpeg Quality compression ratio to 40%, This is a balance between File size, Web space limitations and download times.
If you have a digital camera that uses Smart Media cards, Don't
rush out and buy one from the first place you go to, visit the Digital
Depot website click HERE.
If you own an Epson printer and tend to print out a lot of photos
then I recommend 7DAYSHOP.COM,
they are extremely cheap. I designed this site using Dreamweaver MX. Click HERE to visit the Macromedia site. |
