Other Information : This pub located at 55 Agard Street, dates back to before 1853 when it was called The Golden Eagle.
In 1980 it was sold by Bass and renamed Pizza and Pasta.
In 1983 it was renamed Knight Fall, then in 1994 renamed Golden Eagle again until 1997 when it changed to Captain Blake.
In August 2003 the pub changed its name yet again, It is now called Union Blue.The small street to the left is Searl street which leads you over Markeaton Brook via the £20,000 bridge which Derby University paid for.

Other Information : This dominating four storey building is called Sir Peter Hilton Court and was built in 1995, named after the Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire. It has 387 bedrooms and was built on the site of a former mill owned by Frederick Longdon.

Other Information : This is a view of the Friar gate bridge as seen from Agard Street, The surface still has the cobbles and tram lines from the days of the railway. Before the railway, this was a street called Short Street. It was demolished in 1876 by the G.N.R.
Short Street had a pub called the Lord Hill which was built in 1818, Its location would be where the north side of the arch meets the ground today.
