This is the entrance to Peartree Railway Station. Originally called Pear Tree and Normanton, it was one of the original stations of the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway, opening on August 12, 1839.
These decorative railings are also used for the entrance to Sherwood Recreation Ground which is to the left of the Railway station entrance.
They were created by Chris Plowman in 1993.
