• Photos of Staunton Harold Hall, NW Leicestershire, England.
Staunton Harold Hall is located just on the border with south Derbyshire. The first family to live at the hall were the Ferrers, later followed by the Shirleys who in the 1700s reverted back to the family name when the title of Earl Ferrers was created.
The hall has recently been bought from the Sue Ryder foundation by private owners, but the church is owned by the National Trust.

The Moira Furnace is a Iron furnace that was built in 1806. It was used as an Iron Furnace for just 2 years, then it was converted into housing.

Other Information : This is St Mary and St Hardulph's church at the top of Breedon Hill. This church is partly Norman and was once part of Breedon Priory founded in 1144 as a cell of St Oswald of Nostell, Yorkshire.

Other Information : This is Ashby Castle which is located in the centre of Ashby de la zouch, It was built in 1480, Mary queen of Scotts was kept here at one time.

Photo Description : Loudoun Monument

Other Information : This memorial to the Countess of Loudoun is built of Hopton Wood stone from Derbyshire.
It was unveiled in 1879 to commemorate the general estimation in which the countess was held by the people of Ashby and carries the inscription by Benjamin Disraeli.
It was built to the design of Sir George Gilbert Scott on the site of the communal well known as 'Gawby's Hole' - A place to collect water and gossip.
