About Us
Derby City Photographic Club is a camera club devoted to sharing our passion for photography with each other and members of other Photographic Clubs both near and far.

We meet every Monday evening at Derby Rowing Club on Darley Grove, Bank Holidays excepted and the month of August, when events away from the clubroom are arranged such as an evening meal, a country ramble or a visit to a place of interest. Delightfully situated on the bank of the River Derwent at the edge of Darley Park, the club enjoys a convivial atmosphere, comfortable informal seating and a licensed bar. Outside there is ample car parking. Club evenings start at 7.45 pm and usually finish by 10 pm.

We embrace all kinds of photographer of both sexes, the young and not so young, the experienced and the novice. No matter what your pet subject matter or equipment you use, be it medium format or compact camera, film or digital, if you enjoy taking or looking at pictures or just seek to become more proficient, you will find something to interest you at City Photographic.

We have a full and varied programme throughout the year, including illustrated talks by leading photographers, the screening of National Exhibitions, inter-club competitions as well as monthly domestic competitions where we hear independent judges pronounce upon our efforts.

We also have a flourishing Digital Group that meets between 8 pm and 10 pm, normally the first Tuesday of each month, excluding December.  Please check before coming in case of any date changes. For photographers embarking on Digital Imaging this is an exiting and stimulating session concerned with promoting the use of computer techniques to manipulate and enhance photographic images. Members are encouraged to use the Club’s digital projection equipment to demonstrate new techniques or share problems encountered when trying to enhance those ‘difficult’ images. Many of the more experienced workers give tutorials on various methods of enhancing images by digital means.

Come and try us out! As a visitor you will be made most welcome without being pressured to join until you hopefully decide an evening spent with us is better than slumping in front of the ‘telly’.
A visit to a regular Monday meeting will cost you £2, whilst visiting the monthly ‘Digital’ evening is only £1.
