File size : 11.1Mb

Description : This is a time-lapse video of a walk starting at the gates on the A6, walking right through them and down the long stretch towards the Golden Gates. Again passing through the gates and onto the Castle. Veering to the right and around the front of the castle and onto the lake to see the Canada Geese.
This is a rather odd clip as you are able to travel between the bars of locked gates, At times the journey seems to be flimed on a motorbike as its so fast and jumpy! The filming time was 40 mins.

Title : Narrow boat journey - Bagnall Lock to Tatenhill
Image Reference : DP-120903-BBE-TLV-06
Filming Date : 12th September 2003
File size : 17.8Mb

Description : View from the front of a narrow boat as
it goes on a journey through Staffordshire.
Details of the journey from Bagnall Lock to Tatenhill.
(You may need to use the pause method described at the top of page to see these points of interest)

The journey starts in Bagnall Lock, Alrewas, on the Trent & Mersey Canal, and travels through the village of Alrewas to Alrewas Lock. Once through the lock the River Trent can be seen flowing in from the left and leaving on the right over a weir protected by a large boom. The black and white bridges on the left carry the towpath over the river and surrounding water meadows.

At Wychnor Lock the A38 joins the canal on the right hand side. The large brick building, which actually stands against the south bound carriage way of the A38, was once an old coaching inn, the "Flitch of Bacon", the towpath crosses bridge 43 to run on the right of the canal. Glimpses of the large road signs can be seen on this section of canal along with traffic speeding by.

The entrance to the large Barton Turns Marina is reached on the left closely followed by Barton Lock with the "Barton Turns" public house on the right. The building to the left below the lock was built about the same time as the canal and was at one time "The Navigation Coffee House".

The A38 leaves the canal just before bridge 36. This very narrow bridge is also where the towpath briefly rejoins the left hand side of the canal. There is a large gravel works over the towpath hedge, the area around here
once being a hive of activity with gravel pits both sides of the canal. Most of these pits are now filled with water and used as nature reserves, the largest being Branston Water Park.

Filming Date : 1st August 2003
File size : 4.61Mb
Playback : 15 secs @ 10fps
Description : Nothing to do with Derby apart from the fact it was filmed in a Derby garden, but included as its very funny to watch. The footage shows how far a garden slug travels in 17 mins. Thankfully slugs don't travel this fast in real life !
Update : April 2007
This footage has been used on the DVD release of the film Flushed Away. To see it, From the main menu select Special Features then select More> then select Super Slug Stuff then click Slugcam.
Thats my original high resolution footage. When I filmed this I never imagined that it would end up on a DVD with a major film such as this!
