• Photos near Victoria street & Wardwick in Derby town centre, Derbyshire, England.
Michael Bass, The son of William who was a famous Burton Brewer was the MP of Derby for 35 years, He gave money to buy land which today is known as Bass' rec'.
There is a statue of Michael, by the sculptor Sir Joseph Boehm (made in 1884) in front of The museum square this was originally erected in the Market place in 1884.

This area of the city centre has changed quite a lot in recent years with the opening of several bars and clubs in buildings that were originally used for other things.
Some recent ones include Coyote Wild late night bar in the former Post office building, The Old Institute bar and Revolution.
