• Photos of Derby Market Hall in Derby City, Town centre, Derbyshire
The Market Hall is a Victorian structure built in 1864-1866 at a cost of £29,000. It was opened to the public in 1866. The foundation stone was laid in February 16th 1864 by the Mayor Thomas Roe Esq.

In 1989 the Market hall was restored and opened by HRH the Princess Margaret Countess of Snowdon on 27th November 1989.

Other Information : This is the Market place entrance to the Market Hall, The floor is cobbled in wood!. If you walk out ahead you will be in the Market Place where the War memorial stands.The Fish & Poultry market moved to the area just ahead of this in 1985.

Other Information : This is a view of the amazing structure of the hall which is over 130 years old!. The iron work was made by James Haywood's foundry.

Photo Description : Osnabruck Square (South entrance) to Market Hall

Other Information : This is the Osnabruck square entrance to the Market Hall, first thing in the morning before it opens. The Fish & Poultry market were added outside here in 1926 and demolished in 1981.
The square was named after Derby was twinned with Osnabruck in Germany in 1985.
