• Photos from the top of Cockpitt car park, Derby, England.
The Cockpitt car park was built in 1998 on the site of the Cock-pitt Island. In this area once stood the Ice Factory and cockpit hill.
From the very top level of the car park you get quite a good view of Derby as you can see in these photos.
When this was constructed they demolished the glass footbridge which used to join the bus station to the Eagle centre market.
The area to the left of the bus station was the site of the Morledge market which was built in 1933. It housed open stalls which moved to a new indoor market in the Eagle centre in 1975. The old market site was used to build a combined court centre which opened in 1989.
