• Photos of Breadsall, near Derby, Derbyshire, England.
This is a picturesque old village surrounded by woodland. The old hall has served as both a pub and a cop-shop. Breadsall made the headlines in 1914 when local suffragettes
outraged the nation by setting the church on fire.

The village of Breadsall is about 3 miles South/East of Little Eaton.
The Little Eaton branch of the former Derby Canal built in 1796 partly crossed the Parish of Breadsall. Evidence of the canal can still be seen near Alfreton Road. The Railway Viaduct which once brought the Great Northern Railway through Breadsall was demolished 1979 to make way for a diversion of the A61.

The Great Northern Railway.
The G.N.R. Derbyshire and North Staffordshire extension once ran through Breadsall.
This line ran along the south side of Breadsall, a Railway Viaduct with brick arches and wrought iron lattice-girder was built, which passed over the former Little Eaton branch of the Derby Canal next to a lock. The Railway was opened in 1876 and was closed in 1968.
Since 1978 the former line of the railway has been declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest (S.S.S.I.).
